Photographs of London: Week 2: Class Summary

Hi everyone! The second week of class was just as exciting as the first. On Monday, we visited Highgate Cemetery and went to dinner at Camden Town Market. Tuesday was our field trip day and we went to Lacock Abbey, the birthplace of photography, and explored Lacock Village. Wednesday was a Lab Day, where we developed our pinhole negatives (by creating our own darkroom) and crafted our very own stereo photographs! Bailey, my partner, was the real MVP as she figured out how to navigate the editing software.  The pinholes are currently held for safekeeping, I mean, hostage by Laura. She has, however, released the cyanotypes and other pinhole pictures!!

The Arts in London: Market Project: Borough Market

Borough Market Note: Bailey and I conducted interview together and gathered audio, video, and image data on a Friday morning. Data will be marked if it is not mine. Borough Market is a food market dating back to at least the 12th century but the current buildings are only from the 1850s. It has been a food market for many years, but has shifted from a wholesale market to more of a produce market. This market is open Monday - Saturday, with full stall access on Friday and Saturday. Every other day of the week is considered "limited," meaning that only some stalls are open. Photo taken by Bailey. NOT MINE Now imagine: walking through the market held different scents: seafood to raw meat to fresh fruits/veggies to the sweet smells of confections to the savory scents of meal stalls. Photographs of London: Week 1: Potential Portfolio Photos

 Hello everyone! Below are several photos that I am considering adding to my semester portfolio. Each photo was taken by me and was carefully selected by a team (a big thank you for Anna's assistance). Please let me know what you think! The photo to the right was taken in the Temperate House in Kew Gardens on July 4th. This was part of a class trip. Kew Gardens is a beautiful, massive place and I highly recommend paying the small ticket fee to visit. This photo on the left was taken at Hyde Park, when I was walking from the Marble Arch to the Italian Gardens located in Kensington Gardens. This photo is one of many that I took on my independent trip to Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens on July 5th. The photo to the right was taken as part of my independent trip on July 5th. It captures the Fountains located in the Italian Gardens that overlook the Serpentine. The fountain did not have a specific name or plaque dedicated to it that I could find. Side note,...

Photographs of London: Week 2: Potential Portfolio Photos

Hi everyone! I am back for more potential portfolio pieces. This time, from my experiences during my second week in London! Let me know what you think! This beautiful white lion is named Moto and can be found at the Paradise Wildlife Park in Broxbourne. I visited him on July 13th and honestly, I feel like he was smirking directly into my camera. *squints suspiciously*  This cat is a sculpture I found by the lion enclosures on July 13th. The sculpture was to show that "time was running out" for the lions - like many species, they are in danger of extinction. This lady is named Tilly and is one of the Red Pandas that calls Paradise Wildlife Park home. I do not think that I saw her move from her spot the entire time I was there on July 13th.
